Hi All,
I've just signed upto the forum. Been mtb'ing for about a year and live local to Epping. Mainly into long'ish distance rides and aspire to marathon endurance stuff. DH is great to watch but not sure if I've got the bottle at my age. Did plenty of biking n breaking when I was younger.
Got out for a night ride a couple Wednesday's ago in Epping and got royaly lost.
I will plan to join a group ride sometime soon but not sure I can take any more mud right now!

Zulf.

Target: South Downs Way 100 miles in a day, this July BHF event.
Ride: Specialized Camber Expert Evo.

100 miles is ok if you break it down, I'll be doing a coast to coast off road later in the year but spread over 4 days and 200 miles. I've done 200 miles over 3 days and it was hard but on the first day we did 80 miles and i think the extra 20 would of been doable as you just get into a stride.

I saw you "met" Javi and his mental rides, you dont live too far away so get in touch with him to jump in on his training.

Welcome along!

Hi Zulf,welcomwe to the forum
We're on the same league, xc and arathon endurance rides.

As I mentioned before, you should try the Scott marathon series, better than doing laps to a course. I'm doing the first round this 11th and 12th April.

I find sometimes difficult to do muddy night rides in the forest, as I have to get up very early and nowhere to leave mi bike so dirty.
SDW 100 miles in a day and plenty of climbing is always hard!

Thanks for the welcome VW & Javi.

Watched some of the 2014 Scott series on YouTube. Seems a really well organised and welcoming setup. I'll look into it a bit further and try to persuade the wife to try a bit of camping :-/.

Got to spend less time at the desk and more in the saddle. Will hopefully get a few miles in this long weekend.
