Hi I'm baldy.

I've been riding mtb's for as long as I can remember but have only just got serious about it and need help on deciding what to buy. For me it's got to be a hardtail so I have managed to narrow it down to either a Scott scale 70 or a marin palisade 2010 model, if anyone could advise it would be a big help as I already have a Scott voltage but I a heap and can't handle anything big enough to have fun.

Anyway I'm from canvey island so if there's any more of us about would love a local ride out around hadliegh

cheers

Hi Baldy

Have you been into le's cycles in Canvey, they stock both scott and marin bikes and will let you try what ever you want out.

Personally i would go for the scott scale 70 as it has a better spec.

I occasionally ride around hadliegh

Welcome mate - I dont think you can go wrong with either Scott scale 70 or a marin palisade. For the money they are both good bikes. They both have good geo. Id say the scott is more XC and the palisade more trail, but they are pretty similar.

Both well established brands. Most important thing is to buy it from a good bike shop - http://www.tritoncycles.co.uk/ is also worth checking out.

Also get a test ride if you can - its worth a million hours spent reading reviews in the intraweb :)

any of these would do the trick as well - quite like the paint job on that trek

the quality of bikes you can get for £800 these days is amazing.

Thanks for the feedback all three are lovely looking bikes and i would hope that they preform the same but do u know if that shop does interest free credit becuase les cycles does and it would take along time for me to get the money together on my current salary on its own.
cant wait to get my wheel back so i can get out riding again.

on another subject, when i get one of the above bikes i will prob need some advice on how to set it up properly for me and a few riding tips/tutorials so if u or ne 1 else fancy showing the newb a thing or two at danbury let me know

thganks again

I ride hadleigh once every few months so would not know enough routes to show you around.

Also I bought my Marin from Les cycles and the customer service is great and each bike comes with two free services and Les will proberly chuck in a few extras if you ask him, as he did for me.

Triton cycles is known for also having brilliant service.
