Sounds like it has been great course. I wish i could have made it. Is the place open to the public?

It will be now they have gone. I am thinking of paying it another visit on Tue evening. I did not race today but did a quick half a lap after the Open race was over. The trails should still be there for a while but it did get churned up pretty quick. The 2.30pm riders must have had it hard. It was so much better last Wednesday evening ;)

Cheers for the pics Ian, I see you got a shot of Tom (yellow top). Both bikes are on the floor, I wonder where was I? Looking for the bacon van maybe.

Well you sumedc i9t up well.
Add rain and wind cross and against and the heavy chunned up track and the 2.00 pm race is descibed .
Well done and I must say it was my type of course as against hill climbs and mountain goating down cliff faces .
I will not bore you with my race unless requested .

Sounds like it was a good day.
Shame i couldnt make it in the end, my bottom bracket needs replacing but had so much to fork out for the last couple weeks. Its rideable but i wouldnt trust pushing it in a race.

Hi,
You are right there .
I went for a practise ride about 1.00pm . Got to the furtherest part of the course and went into the woods and lost my speedo .Went back along the track to see if I could find it.
Asked achappy sitting at the start of the woods what the time was and he told me 1.55 pm and I should be at the start......... B........
I flew back straight up the bump track and was told they were waiting for me to get off and back .
Got ther and then joined tjhe back as normal. Over the tenoy came slight delay someone is on the track . Of course I said blood soand sos no sense looking the other way .
Normal banter at the line to find nr 662 was looking for my last position in the race .
Was not having that so me and him started of chatting away .
We hit the ditches with me stopping him over tacking then me hitting the ditches and him over tacking .
First lap he crossed the line in front .
Now cat and mouse started .
On the bumpy track out I went hells bells for it . well in front at the first ditch we were well matched he was large and pretty skilled I slim and absolutely out of touch with it not being on my bike for over two weeks .
B lines were horrible and cedrtainly though aabout the A after the first lap full tight turns with roots holes adverse slopes .Good fun actually and did enjoy it though time consuming.
Well third lap out I was going well and my rain coat came out of my bag as I was hot at the start and when it rained was racing mode so did not want to stop to put it on.
It got wrapped round my rear wheel . had to stop everfy body racing to get it out .
Curses for courses you might say .
I class my self as a randem obsticle that moves to be passed by one means or another .
He sshot passed me whilst I was sorting my clothes out of the wheel .
I was then trying to gain back time that a I was in front and behind .
Was not far from the finish line and got in front again .
I was wtaching for a black clothes rider for the forth lap and was coming out of the woods for the finish and this black blur shot past , over the furrows I managed to catch him at the U turn by taking the inside route as he took the outside line .
But his out speed of the bend was higher than mine and I could not accelorate fast enough . He shoot across the line just in front not that much in it .
I was gutted .
I though 32 starters Last again hoping some one would bail out with mecs and knackered etc.
Need that 30 place to get ranking points .
4 laps I should have been happy as 3 is a normal for me .
Said well done to him but did not take a good look.
Really upset and was saying to myself I should have kept going and not easyied up and I would not have got caught .
Home still got the hump talking to Chickens and telling them I have got to get me act together and it was all their fault .
Bike ran well it was flat so even the seat post did not really cause concern -my sort of track pedalling all the time but fun with it .
Got to work this morning and first thing look up results .
25 th out 32 starters .
Best ever in MSG
Must get 45 points 3rd in my class .
4th national rankings ....
Yet to be sorted takes aweek .
15 points should be in front of denis Smith 5 th / 4th place at present.
But best of all to cheer me up was the chappy that flew past me was on his 5 th lap so did not make any difference to me and my mate 662 stopped at the 3rd lap so at the end I got a very good day s results and dancing on air.
I still managed to get to Chelmsford and get lost and came across it from wrong direction purely by luck -tried to get in the first entrance but had to reverse out and go into the junction end .
looking forward hopefully to Nottingham Nationals mid July .
Shame I will not make the Hopton Castle ride as only three in it and very good points to be had .

Bye for now sure to do something to write about in the future .
OH yes I stopped on a log as did not want to damage big ring etc and somebody shoved me right out the way and off the saddle and on to the cross bar ouch.....
That is why you may have noticed the high pitch typing and the tears in my eye..........

Bob, you are a legend. I am sure you will get those ranking points eventually. I could not hang around for the 2.30 ride so I left early but I will see you again next time around. Don't forget the picnic bag!
