Just placing this up so it goes into the ride calendar. for those that want to remember when the next round is.

This course is a good one. if you do one xc race this year try and do this course, its always good fun and some nice technical sections and hills... also get to play on the BMX track as well... always fun on their...

If you want to pay online do you also have to buy a British Cycling membership on top of the entry fee too?

If you pay at the race do you still have to be a British Cycling member? And what are the chances that i wont get a place if payed there?

You don't have to be a member but if you want you can become one.

Check the FAQ section on the MSG website its quite comprehensive.

Ive done two races so far of msg and dont have a british cycling membership. You dont really need one unless your looking to conpete highend and build up racing points etc .

If you get the basic Ride membership you get liability cover and a few other benefits like 10% off at Halfrauds. This level of membership doesn't allow you to collect BC points though.

Its more expensive paying on the day..you can amost always garantee a place by pay on the day but also pay extra for the privalage...

they do say if races are pre pay only.. Hadleigh last year was and a sell out.. no hadleigh this year though..

Hi ,
I am going -second time this year.
Dreading it...
If they go for the same course it is hard work -sort of fun ,well I think it was its is a blur now . Bomb hole......
Drop off got me the bottom level .not the down the ruts at the bottom.
Looking forward but got Redruth first .
Might get back in a week or two in my car.
All good fun .
Bob

Bob, you only fall over once in the same place.

I am around this time but as with the first race, it is likely that I will book the Open (assuming the format is always the same) as I will have the little one with me for the U12 race. Hopefully I will have his bike completed by then.

Hi,

I've never done a race before. Can anyone advise if this is ok for a first timer?

I'm an experienced rider, been riding for years and ridden Brecon Beacons and South Downs as well as other places. I've just never competed. Does anyone know what the standard is like? I don't want to get shown up too much!

I'll be doing it on my Trek Fuel EX7 full suss. Any tips appreciated!

DazJ, the racing is fun, your be fine. You do get the serious shaved leg Lycra wearing clipped in racers but let them go off firstly and all fine.

Racing in MSG is split into two races, first session being an hour race in he morning, and the second being a two hour race in the afternoon.

As for bike choice yours will be fine, I've raced a few on my full sus bike but mainly do them on my 29'er HT now, some courses like hadleigh last year was a full sus best raced track.
