Hi Folks.

Off to Morzine in July, looking around at insurance, anyone got any tips ?

Ive had various insurance before and looked at some of the recommended ones DogTag, SnowCard ,etc.

Ideally I'd like cover for Downhill Biking (many dont cover DH or are a bit vague), and ideally theft cover for my bike for £1500 and the usual rescue stuff, not really bothered about the other rubbish flight delays, cancellations, etc.

Thanks but they are another that is rather vague simply stating they cover 'cycling'.

Thanks..but google was my first stop.

Think ill use same as last year, Etravelinsure..works out very cheap £15-£20 and does say it specifically covers Downhill (but with higher excesses) but like nearly all the others..only cover single items (i.e a bike) upto £250 in cases of theft ,etc . Think ill do the the theft insurance seperately.

I would of thought there should be someone that does the medical/rescue side of it AND offers theft cover upto a decent level (i.e a few grand).

I got a quote from cycleguard.co.uk for an annual policy that also covers your bike for up to 90 days abroad (£1500 bike value) for £117. They do a policy you can add to your normal travel insurance, but at £11 a day seems a bit steep ima and these quotes are for what they term 'recreational use' whatever that means. Might be worth a call to see if they do the cover you need, they do quote for competition riding I think.

Or there's www.hbinsurance.co.uk which is a specialist activity insurer that include £50,000 search and rescue cover in their policies, and you can opt out of baggage/personal effects, money/documents cover if you've got it already on your home insurance.

Thanks, seems good but another thats a bit vague on whats covered, it has mountain biking (excluding stunts or racing) !?

Think ill stick with choice above and get seperate theft cover.

Typical insurance co then! Beet of luck, just don't break a leg lol. I'm only looking because I'm taking my bike with me on my hols to the canaries in July. Don't suppose I'll face anything like you might in the alps!
