To increase my riding time I want to be able to head out in the evenings in winter when the toddler is asleep and the wife is collapsed on the sofa....hence I need to get some lights.

So advice on what to get - bar and helmet light? what is a reasonable spend?

What kind of money think of spending.

look at dealextreme.com for cheap and cheerful.
Magicshine is one name I seen some of the other riders with one is bright but two look killer

I got:
MTE SSC P7 C-Bin 900-Lumen on bar does say on light 900 Lumen but have read it more like 600 or 700 Lumen
Ultrafire C1 Cree R2-WC on helmet

And battery life my set I got 4 battery as each light takes only one so improving light life.
Magicshine have a read about on feed back some say 2.5hr 3.5hr 4hr

I run the LUU LED on the helmet, gives more then enough light but its quite heavy on the helmet.

the nuke proof light uses the same electronics/LED/lenses as the On-One LUU led but in a different housing, at the moment the nuke proof is cheaper

Was thinking one on the bars and one on the helmet. Hoping to spend under 300 for the pair but that may be ambitious

That light forum is great - cant go wrong with 700-1000 lumens of led light tbh - flood on the bars and spot on the helmet.

for that amount of money you must be able to get loads of light

I dont think they are the brightest but I like my ay ups - good bit of kit

Christ! 900 lumens for 80 quid! Bargain - id start with one on your head and see how you get on - I rekon that will be plenty if that power output is accurate.

Also depends on terrain - if its tight wooded singletrack you need more - ie epping - if its a bit more open danbury XC ie you need less

Can buy a 2nd light on its own and splitter cable plugged into one battery . Two light the cheap way but less light time two hours max probably Guess



If your getting two set you need a longer cable from backpack to helmet as it to small.

Gladdice what did you get, did you got for Magicshine?

Just orderd a magicshine with helmet mount and cable extension so will see how that goes. got it from the uk supplier for ease and i have to say they were very helpful.

should be here in a couple of days and then i will let you know how it goes!

Just headed out for my first ride. Helmet mounted with the battery in my pack. Plenty of light and stayed put the whole time. Definitely recommend so far and magicshineuk were very helpful. Bring on a winter of night rides!

Head mount is it light i.e. weight I only seen other light on bars
what was over all price as you when UK seller ?
