I ride Danbury most. I've got a ventana terremotto with lyrik fork.
There are a really good bike I've not found a bad review yet.
The only thing I wish I got a medium frame. But thats just me.

I’ve got problem for your solution…

Hi mate,

Kona had a lot of bad reviews over the past few years, but apparently have cleared their act up a bit and their bikes are a bit better.

However, they are still using the same suspension system from 1995, bu tthen again, if it aint broke, dont fix it.

Just think with that amount of money, you could get something a bit nicer, i.e a santa cruz, intense etc........

Do you want a pure DH bike, burly and designed to plow through everything, or something more all rounded, could take it to a jump spot/pump track and mess around with?

If it's pure DH you want, I've heard great things about the YT Industries!

Great bang for buck too, with a grand to spare you can almost stick a whole Saint groupset on it too lol :p

Or if you want something a bit more "flickable" (as I like to call it), I REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY want one of these!

Get that with the CCDB, and build it up with 2nd hand parts, or push your budget that bit further and get new stuff :)

Just my 2p, but a bike is a completely individual thing, so you really want to ride a bike where you like to ride first if you can!

If not, but offline and use the DSR to return it haha :p

Yep..Kona were seen as a bit of a budget bike..but you can get second hand ones v cheap and I see CRC have a huge range of frames prettyu cheap too...the Kona Operator does seem to be a new start for them though, theyve made a geeat vid you can view online.

As other have mentioned though, if you have a nice pile of dosh there are some amazing purely DH bikes like YT, Nukeproof, Intense, Santa Cruz, etc about.

Dude of you have 3 - 3.5 K to spend look at the new (2012) Kona operator, it comes on at around 2.4k I think and has got great reviews from numerous places. You'll have some spare cash to upgrade the parts if you want then :)
