I noticed on the epping vids that there are a fair few larger riders, like myself
where the hell do you get decent cycling clothes to fit, and some that hopefully dont cost as much as a small car
i have tried some shops and the shorts are nowhere near big enough, and the tops are too snug for my liking
any info would be great :)

I'm quite big, 6'4 etc. I find fox tops are usually a good fit and the free ride types such as the attack jersey and 360 jersey have a good loose fit. Some go up to xxl but I find XL fine. I like Oakley shorts as they have a good fit for me and again fox can be fine, both do go up to xxl. There are some good deals on xxl Dakine shorts on chainreaction at the moment.
These aren't cheap but then your ride will be much more enjoyable if you are comfortable.
You could also try Surface clothing from Charge Bikes which Luke at Triton sells. I haven't tried it but Luke rates them.
Some sites to try are:-
ebay

http://www.mx1.co.uk
http://www.foxeurope.com
http://www.iboardshorts.com/mens-oakley-boardshorts (there are some xxl bike shorts here)

It is not as hard as you may think, my advice would be to look for the more aggressive riding kit (more freeride and downhill makes). By their very nature they are longer and baggier in their cut without having to buy 2 sizes too big. Once you know the makes you like, keep an eye out for bargains, most of the kit I have bought has been dramatically reduced. I am 6'3

I keep an eye out for stuff on offer in XL from royal, sombrio, troy Lee mostly. Singletrack mag recently had a great review of shorts including thereafter length so if you can dig out this months review then that would help.

The real hard one for me is finding gloves!!!! (don't even start me in that)

Happy shopping

I just been on the Chain Recation site to get some trousers, initially I thought I was in luck as they had lots reduced from £100 + to £20-£30 but of course the only sizes they had were for the super skinny..28-30" waist, but managed to get some No Fear ones for £39, they had some 34" waits reduced..yay :)
