After twisting rear derailleur I got a Shimano XT M772 to fit my Rockhopper SL. It doesn't fit hanger the knuckle on hanger misses knuckle on derailleur.

So Shimano XT M772 going back.
Did have a Shimano Deore M592 is there much difference in M592 & SLX M662 other then price? and would the SLX M662 fit?

Have posted on BR about changing hanger. Apparently can't change hanger to fit derailleur.
In photo one & two hanger moves above knuckle. That if it is called a knuckle!

Spence, I may be wrong but in your photos they show a 2d lug on the derailleur mounting, this should be the one that touches the 'knuckle' on the hanger, it's kind of like a rivet sticking out. See:

What is the other part poking out above the knuckle should that not have a small cylindrical tab poking out of it?

it may be that the mech is faulty from the factory as the mech hanger looks perfectly normal mine is the same as that

Yep. When fitting, swing the whole mech right back and up, then just before tightening completely, swing it back down and the stop should meet the dropout hanger correctly. Your mech looks fine.

At least it was a cheaper and more straight forward solution!

How much did you get the mech for? Was looking at getting one of these, £46.99 from CRC seems to be the best, cheaper than the German sites even.
