OK, Something a little different...

This week I was thinking about rather than the big 20+ mile loop that we could set off from Bannatyne's Gym, heading down to the Davey Down and then spiking up, down and through Brannett's wood...

The woods are less than a mile long but there are muddy bits, slippery bits, and dry fast bits + it'll be pitch black!

So if you've lights or no sense of fear then you are welcome!

Hi, I'm new to the site but and I'm very close to this area. How often do you tend to ride around here

Weekly mate. Usually on a Wednesday night as we all tend to pop over to Thorndon or wherever at the weekend. This week is a little different - normally I/we do a 20 mile loop over into Hornchurch and come back through Rainham and Purfleet and follow the Thames wall back into Thurrock/Grays.

In truth it may be that we change the route Wednesday to the normal one if nobody else fancies playing about in the woods...

Good morning all,
Happy Xmas and a Healthy New Year.
Will try and join you on Wed evening, Not troubled which ever you do. If you want a change of route I would take you another route take the same time.mostly off road .Furtherest point Eastbrooke Cem.Dagenham. Back via Elm Park.Track Grass wood ,water ridge and jumps.
It is wet out there still but good fun.
Either way should be with you with a fit bike (No puncture and bat in the lights.

I was out last night and managed to snag a puncture in Lowfield Wood over at Hornchurch Country Park.

Was told that at this time of year thorns can be a paid but I wouldn't listen!

It may well be that Brannett's wood it just too wet, it wasn't too good last night :(

Good morning,
A tip ,but I am sure you dont need it.
Check your tyre at the place of the puncture and general as the thorn stays in the rubber and soon as you start to roll on it ,it punctures again. Happen several times.A so and so to find them.
Its a bit far from you but Eastbrook is pretty open -grass and gravel and large puddles ridge 100yds long with a foot and half path five foot high jumps and tracks .good for a work out .check it on the map near Romford car drome.

There are 2 main routes through brannetts woods the lower of thre two is ridiculously muddy to the point where I dipped my forks in it, however there is a top route which is fine. If you ride your suggested route east to west through then its all uphill at the top.

Woods are off... normal route is back on.

Nick suggested we go anti-clockwise...

See anybody that's up for it tomorrow :)

Just noticed the heavy rain warning... Looks like my baby will get clean tonight...

Let me know later if you can make it - but as you say, rain may cancel play!

I don't mind getting wet but if it's bucketing down then I'll give it a miss... otherwise I'll be at the gym by about 19:30.
