I might be out, need to get back wheel sorted.
Weather forecast seems to have mellowed.

Ive fitted the a wheel off the ss temporarily.

However, the wheel doesnt turn when pedalled, the chain and cassette move but the wheel doesnt turn. (well it does turn the wheel approx 1in10 attempts at pedaling)

is it broke or something to do with it being off a singlespeed? Anything to fix it?

tia

ps. assume a numpty level of spannering ability.

Is the freewheel the bit the cassette goes onto? 1 in 10 pedal strokes move the wheel, rest of the time it just spins.

Yep., the bit the makes the normal clicking sound when you spin the wheel or free-wheel. You'll need a chain whip, cassette lockring tool and a 10mm allen key to replace it.

Cheers fellas.

Its definately the freewheel, it spins around then it sticks for a bit then disengages.

I have them tools, but looks a bit complicated for my spannering abilities based on this

A temporary fix might be to shove a load of WD40 into the freewheel which may unstick the pawls, but if they have worn or snapped then that won't work of course! As you're not far away from High Beech you might as well turn up on Sunday and we'd probably be able to sort it if you got a new freewheel tomorrow.

New to the forum.

Just want to say hello, have read lots of posts seems very friendly, myself and 4 other mates normally ride Thorndon, Danbury, and Bedgebury forest, and just come back from a weekend in wales Cwmcarn and Forest of dean, we met some people over Thorndon who told us to join this site for local rides and info.

We tried Epping once but seems you need to know the area I'm sure plenty to ride over there, will try to make it sunday morning, where do you meet and want's the ground like considering the recent weather.

Thanks Scott

With a hint of shitty road grime as well now.....

Conditions in Epping now will be slippery with the odd sloppy mud puddle and greasy roots....all hidden under a bed of leaves.... :wtf: :wtf: :wtf:
