Thx for the offers guys

I don't want to 'mod' the forest in any way. It will be up to you to work out where you need to go with the tools given. Eroding the trails by sweeping clearing marking is not something we should do as the Forest has had a tough year and needs to be left to sort itself out. I get where your coming from though.

I did consider the walkie talkie idea (VW mentioned it) but then you have the complications of, another person having to be involved, signal, battery life and means you cant have concurrent riders on the course.

A 120sec course with 10 riders would mean 20 mins of standing around before we can move on. Watch syncing / going off at designated times might fix that but is just another complication.

Its worth adding that the routes I have in mind will be quite strait forward as they are short. As a fail safe a marshall mid course would stop anyone getting lost for sure and worth considering.

Apologies for the overenthusiastic course marking ideas - I may have been overthinking this ... just a bit!!

You're absolutely right, the forest does need some recovery time and the routes should be pretty obvious in most cases ayway.

I've got Strava now that it looks like we're not going to use it ha ha ha.
FYI MapMyRide on my S3 rarely drops the gps signal in Epping.

So Jon (Karve), do you have a load of routes in mind already, or do you want suggestions ?

Back to Strava for a sec ... is there a Essex Herts MTB Group in Strava?

Cool

I think the largest workable group for this kind of thing is 15-20. Anymore than that and it will be total carnage.

Almost 20 have said they are keen already. Its great to see such enthusiasm.

Ill get a post up next weekend with a date etc. Everyone who has said they are up for it on this thread so far will have first dibs for a couple of days, and then everyone else can pile in if there is space. Priority will be given to forum members so there might not be an opportunity to 'bring ya mates', even though that would have been cool!
