Got an email back from them after giving them a list of my qualifications and an outline of my riding experience, and it looks like i am on the list. Just got to wait for confirmation of dates and times etc. They also said that i could take a group of students there for a track walk as well.

"Hi Matthew

As you know, for experienced mountain bikers who have completed “black” grade trails at other UK trail centres or others with other appropriate coaching or skills qualifications, ECC are planning to provide opportunities for them to join guided rides on the course before the adaptations are completed.

I have added your details on to our database for the group rides and when we have more information regarding the dates and times of these rides somebody will be in touch to book you a place.

Feel free to advertise this to the Mountain Bike clubs that you are involved with, they should email london2012@essex.gov.uk with details of their experience and if they are interested in riding as a group or individually.

In the mean time I suggest you keep an eye on our website: http://www.essexlegacy.org/ for any information regarding tours and other events at Hadleigh Farm.

I hope this helps."

I'd love to ride this course as well. I do have a few friends that have ridden it and they considered it a mid-ride in regards to dificulty compared to the front range of Colorado and 'totally and easily rideable at an aggressive pace". Now I've only ridden with a few people from this group but of those people, that description tells me they could ride it no problem.

Riding it and racing over it are two different things, imagine how you'd cope being shot out of a cannon at the top of Danbury having to deal with the tight turns and jumps, it would be pretty hard (but fun ??) the obstacles on the Olympic course provide no issues just riding over them, but race along at any sort of speed and they become very different.

It doesn't matter what you ride

I couldnt do a single lap of the track without dropping dead !..

I actually tried to 'race' a friend down the Les Gets green run (normally we stop at various points, muck about, etc) and I was completely knackered although I was very happy that on one of the little tabletops at the bottom (that I normally flop over) I cleared the whole thing and landed on the flat a long way from the jump.......speed is your friend, just its scary.
