Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of Canyon bikes, a friend would like to buy a cheapish bike, max of £500. He's interested in a cube but I steered him in the direction of canyon. For the price there an incredible deal, I know a little about there canyon Nerve AM as I was interested in one last year but little about there hard tails, he'd looking at the cheapest in the range £530 but it's got the equivalent spec of £1100 Marin!

I think you should be in the mtb chat, but here goes.
Their bikes are used in the tour de france, so they must know a thing or two about building a frame. If its got good components for the price i'd go for it. Its good to be a bit different rather than following the flock.
Was it the yellowstone you were looking at? Nice looking bike.

A mate of mine just ordered one of their road bikes. They seem to get good reviews, but like anything on the internet, its tough getting after sales service and you can't fit the bike. Which is my only reason for not considering one.

But a £400ish saving is very appealing.

My wife has the nerve wrx the 2008 model. it was a great bike but last summer i noticed three cracks in the headtube. the frame was replaced and rebuild by them without any hassle. i saw more people with a 2008 frame with the same issue but newer frames are ok. dont know about the uk aftercare (i was serviced by the dutch dealer)
