I've just just gone ten speed got a wicked deal on ebay. sram x9 10s shifter and mec in red with a short cage new!
for £40 couldn't belive my bid won. so i'm now 1x10 i'm just been playing with gear ratio 11/23 on back 38 on front but waiting for a 36.

I only change to single up front as i never used the front mec so i thought one less thing to worry about.
but do you really use it that much? what sort of riding do you manly do?

Sounds like you got yourself a great deal , the kind of riding I do is proberbly aggressive xc with a bit of everything else thrown in if that makes sense, normally rack up quite a few miles when I'm out so that is why I'm staying with 27 gears, I just fancy a better derailleur .

If it's not broken why fix it? SLX is pretty solid stuff, works well and I would replace it when it's worn. Shimano upgrades would be XT, XTR or Saint. If you go to SRAM X7, X9 or X0 9 speed then you'll need new shifters too.

Don't think there's anything wrong with yours mate, just need tweaking and maybe new cables.
I thought it had Sram X7 on it or is that just the shifters. If you upgrade could go with Sram XO to keep it all Sram. It's all the crap we've rode in recently that's making everything play up, same on my bike..

I'd rather ride me bike than the Wife..
