Why would it mean a change of crank going 1x ?
It's usually just removing the only rings and putting on a narrow wide chain ring? What crankset is it?

Ah, didn't realise I could swap the plastic bit out.
Currently running S1000 dual ring. figured a single ring wouldn't bolt on properly and give chain line issues.
As I only use the granny ring which is 28T It might be nice to have a slightly easier lowest gear, without losing anything for top speed, thinking maybe 30 or 32T chainring and change the cassette. But this is just at the idea stage right now.
