Good afternoon guys,

After a long long time out I've decided to get a MTB again and head out on rides to get myself back fit again.

I'm looking at getting a MTB at around the £300 mark and have the following two in my basket at the moment but will be heading out on Saturday to have a look to see if there's anything better for my money. (is there any decent shops near the Rayleigh area I can drive to for a nosey?)

What are your thoughts on these two? Are they better than the Carreras etc in Halfords? Are there any others I should be looking at in this price bracket?

On that budget I'd look for a second hand bike, you can possibly get a much better specced bike than these two that I'd classify as "leisure bikes" not MTBs.

My issue is that 1) I don't know what I'm looking at so the spec could be worse than the brand new ones and 2) If I get an issue with a brand new one I can return it knowing that I won't have an issue and there's something about getting a brand new bike.

Also, it will pretty much be just a leisure bike. I will pop out of an evening and some weekend to ride through the woods and a touch on the road etc it wont be anything major

Out of the two I listed (inc Carrera) which one would you suggest?

In this case the one with the longest warranty.
