Anyone fancy a day trip to Cannock in the next few weekends, before the weather turns to arse? I have been meaning to get up there to check it out for a while after a couple of the guys on the leogang trip recommended it.

Seems to be

some DH - http://www.chasetrails.co.uk/downhill.php
and some quality trail riding - http://www.chasetrails.co.uk/xc.php

So might be a case of the trail bike plus the full face and pads in the back for a bit of both.

its about 2.20hrs from me - and might be closer if you live more Herts than Essex so definitely doable in a day

I am up for this but cant do this weekend as I have visitors Saturday.

Will check for the following weekends as my MK friend also likes this place and might tie in a trip to MK and then onto Cannock with him. Will also find out about wet riding conditions

Bradley I am sure we can get you there somehow, especially if we have a few of the regulars going, only trouble for me is I may possibly be in MK / or taking mate on route and if not need to offer Jon first refusal of a lift given his generosity with the Hope lights! I can only take two bikes.

cant give any guaranties on the type of trails but trail centres are usually pretty smooth. Check out http://www.chasetrails.co.uk/ and if think you can ride it you are more than welcome to pop along.

Cannock is quite a cool place. The XC is fast and twisty with some great tight turns and a few drops. Long dragging up hills but at least all the downs are good.
Follow the Dog is the main trail but very forect center riding. Monkey trail is worth finding.
There is some super steep stuff hiden at the back which is also worth trying to find.

The DH track is not bad. Enough to have some fun on and a laugh. the push up is not too long, just step in places.

You can use a HT for 90% of it with out too much problems if you like that sort of thing.

Cheers for the Cannock feedback Martyn, always a bit hit and miss going somewhere new.

Noel - I would prob take my armour if super steep stuff around, if you got it might as well use it eh!

Jon - Saturday 18th early start might be OK but cant be sure yet. Will post up about some other dates as soon as I can.

I meant I am probably taking mine as I have it & thinking in terms of the steep stuff Martyn mentioned. I know my friend has ridden there without bodyarmour so not a problem really, just how hard you want to push it I suppose.

If its anything like the trial centres I have ridden then you deffo don't need armour or a full face to ride the xc trail. If you want to session the DH stuff afterwards like I might do, then yea sling leg and arm in the car, but it wont be needed for most of the riding.

I have some spare armour if anyone needs it.

The XC trails will require a fair bit of climbing.

I might be going from my parents so wont be able to offer a lift but that means I dont need one from you Grin - cheers for the offer BTW - not sure if that allows you to offer it out to anyone else depending on dates.
