Hi mates. Sorbo calling. Not been biking since the 70s on my claud butler electron but now thirty odd years later i got the bug again and find myself with another bike. A claud butler cape wrath. I live a few hundred yards from the river stort in lower sheering sawbridgeworth. I spend loads of time on the towpath going to harlow or stortford. Dont know what im after really but just saying hi. Im up for any meets in my area but dont know what there is in my area but dont know what there is. Not a hard core off road cos i slipped a disc years ago, or thats my excuse!

Other end is right by J27 of M11 and Stansted, it's called Start Hill :D :D :D So that will knock 16 miles of your journey straight away :lolno: :lolno: :lolno: :lolno:

Thanks chatman. I can see the start by the m11. Is it a known ride, how long is the route?

Hi Splash

Flitch Way is about 7.5 miles from Start Hill to Dunmow (then there's a bit of road involved to get you on to the next section), then about 9 miles from Dunmow to Braintree Station, where it ends.

Or about 33 miles Start Hill-Braintree-Start Hill! Good run, drains real well for the most part. Flat and boring if you're after hooning about, or fast and fun if you want to put the hammer down!

Brilliant, jmac. You boys are in a different league to me lol. Sounds great but maybe too much for humble moi but will have to have a go.

It's a good slog for stamina training, I've got the route down to about 2hrs 40minutes for whole end to end and back.. But watch out for the stray dog walkers they make sure your brakes work.....

I done some real nice cross country in takely, parked car in bishops stortford tescos and followed a load of thin gravel tracks that took me under the m11 then over one of the airport roads, then round the back of start hill and all the way into takely then into the flitch, i must of done 14 miles plus before i reached the flitch. Best way to do cross country..........make it up as u go along ;) lol
