Getting a bit frustatred with all the chain slap i have so think i'll fit a tensioner. Currently using a triple front ring, most setups seem to use double and bashring on the front, does this mean you lose the big ring or granny ring?

Is this just for single ring setup?

Most have a single or double ring setup with a device because of the movement of the deraulllier.

If you think about it; a device is to keep the chain tight on the ring. When you change gear you actually are working against your aim.

I found this predicament out for myself. I have invested in a 38T ring and blackspire device since.

If your truly bothered about slap you need need to make a choice on how much you want to compromise what.

I ran a double and bash ( lost the big ring) and it was flawless for years. Can't remember the model buy it was from Gamut. Worth doing in my view!!

I ran a Blackspire and double up front for a couple of years with no problems. Swapped to a single ring and E13 up front this year because I never, ever used the granny ring.

Would the blackspire only work with a double ring setup, if so can you use the two big rings and ditch the granny ring?

I've got a single and blackspire and it has never come off. Well chuffed. Also the chain feels more responsive by being on the ready.

Doubt it would work with the two big rings without some modification as the alignment isn't adjustable. It's set-up for granny and middle.

They only work on the granny and middle, you loose the big ring for the bash guard part... I'm thinking of doing this as well.. only use the big ring when on roads between trail sections.. so no great loss to me, and I prefer my chain staying on as well....

Go to single. Save the weight if the shifter, cable and derailleur. Chain always tighter and you learn to use your gears more.

If you ain't running out of gear on a big ring then you're not going fast enough!!!!

I know; but I can definitely feel the weight loss on my bars. True fact.
