What im chewing over in my mind is the SAS is more of a DH/Free ride wheel 36mm across really for fatter tyres. Is it going to be slightly over kill for XC and Trails, the odd little jump found on the way? Obviously there will more drag due to the fatter tyre, but a much stronger wheel than your normal wheel. Unless anyone can recommend a good strong XC rim?

The Superstar wheels always get good reviews (I had a couple and was pleased), you can have them built to your specs using XC, AM or DH rims which vary in weight, strength and price.

im tempted buy them myself, can get a pair with marvic rims for about £200 delivered..

If you still like halo they do a lighter rim. look at the T2 or the freedom rims.

I had a pair for a while with no probs at all..survived good bashing in Morzine/Les Gets..only changed them recently mainly for cosmetic/matching reasons for Saint hubs/mavic rims.

Good wheel builders can do you a wheel in a hour and if you get to watch the best usually use a spoke key & spoke tension meter with a final spin check in the truing stand, good stuff to watch it you get a chance but don't blink
