Long story short, I used to ride and race MTB's back in the day (1989 through to 98) then gave up for a while, got back into recently, building up a retro mountain bike, sold that and just bought a Scott Scale 30, which is nice, looking to race sometime this year to see if I have still got it! Although haven't ridden off-road for a >10 years now!

Looking for some off road routes/riding buddies to bring my skills and fitness up.

One problem is I am limited in travel, i.e. I have to ride to wherever you guys meet, I am based in Gidea Park, so can pretty easily do Hainault/Epping, and perhaps Thorndon.

Will check back on here for rides in those areas and no doubt ask questions as and when I do make it out into the gloop.

Cheers

Steve

Hi mate, just up the road in brentwood.
Thorndo will be ace training for getting back into racing, easy knock out lots of fast miles over there.

A scale eh, lovely bikes, proper race weapon. Did look at a Scale 29er through ride to work scheme but alas still no ticket.

If you need showing around to find the good bits, tag along on one of the rides.

Cheers guys for the welcome, just looked at the map and didn't realise that Thorndon was so close, can't wait to finish my Scott (tarting it up with XTR/light bits) and get it out there.

Do any of you do road training in the winter or is it all firmly off road?

Welcome fella...

Road bikes.... eeeew too much Lycra we like it muddy and ruff and bumpy here.....

When the sun ain't shinning makes for better riding....

Lots of rides going on at the moment and as mentioned Thorndon is a cracking little place more than enough to keep you busy...

Thorndon is 1.5 miles from Brentwood rail station.
