I may well be up for this,
I just need to sort out some decent tyres for my cube LTD and a helmet.
If I get them sorted I will be there for sure

I have a pair of Bontrager Mud X tyres 26x2.0, pretty much new virtually no wear at all as only covered about 50 miles. was gonna keep them on my spare wheels but will sell them for £35 the pair if you want them..

More grip than the Nicks but with grip comes more rolling resistant's on non muddy trails so can be a bit harder work at times although a lot of folk swear by them.

think id go with the Nicks. Jim use's them and finds there pretty good. i run High Rollers..

the Mud X suit deep slop there a proper winter/mud tyre, where the Nicks and High rollers are more of an allrounder

so really these are alittle OTT for my needs,
I think I will give them a miss then as I can get a set of NNs for the same price.
They sound better suited for me.

Mudx are light, they are fine this time of year. A few days rain and riding in epping with nics will be comical imo. The chances of this weather holding up is remote to say the least. I aint a tyre expert but have used a hell of a lot. If you can get over to me I can lend you some to try. I have high roller, maxxis minion, panaracer rampage, maxxis medusa, nobby nics racing ralphs maxxis swampthings and mudx which you cant borrow ;-)

edit - triton cycles do mudx for £39 a pair and cycle surgery will match it. :D

Im not trying to change your mind if it seems like it, like I say tyres are personal its a shame we generally have to buy to try. Ive only had the mudx a couple of weeks be nice to hear a few other peoples opinions. mark how about starting a tyre thread and get more info.

Nics are a brilliant in the right terrain, which probably isn't Epping in the winter, I ran them the whole of last year, but as soon as they hit any mud it was a pointless exercise. .

If you're after an all-year-round tyre then I'd something from Maxxis such as High Rollers, Advantage or Minions, going for a 60/62 compound would make them sticky enough to deal with wet rock/roots a bit more but not wear out after a week.

I've run 6 or 7 different tyres over the last few months and settled on the Maxxis Advantage myself

Don't forget about the road works by the tea hut, you'll have to park near the pub. I won't be out saturday though.
