Here we go myOn One Carbon build Diary
I was tempted to go for the black and green, but decided on the plain Satin Black. And here it is...Plain and black in 18 inch Sorry about pic quality, rubbish Blackberry Camera
Just after the pic was taken, the wind blew the frame over and it scratched
Twat putting it there! I wasnt bothered too much as i was a bit disappointed with the finish. After calling On One they assured me this is how the satin frames are so the satin black is just satin lacquer sprayed over the raw frame....This is the finish it came with, not my cup of tea.
So the prep work began with rubbing the frame down with 800 grit. And this is the raw finish to the Head tube it came with. Cant think why the 'ol woman got the hump? I cleaned the sink after.
Once the rubbing down was done and frame washed off with the shower
it was off to the spray booth (well summer house) for priming.
Rather than fook about masking the metal surfaces up i smeared a bit of greese over the surfaces
Out of interest i weighed the frame before painting, and will weigh it after to see how much difference the paint makes (1kilo 410grams)
Here we have the primered frame and flatting the primer off with 1200 grit and once again moaned at
Brake hose and cable clips where deliberatly left on so the colour of em blended into the frame, (thats my theory)
And time for the Matt Black top coat. Just look at that lush Matt black
Is that better than the Raw finish or wot?
Now she got the hump i've made summer house dirty and dust! Its fooking winter women you wont be sitting in there! So at the moment its a spray booth.
With the top coat done, time to get the Decals made up, in gold. 20 quid twice as much as On One's own gross decals, but mine are custom and unigue.
And applied and purposely applied at an angle, i wasnt pissed.
Now back in to put the lacquer on to give it some protection.....Pics to follow once i done it.
In the meantime order the Forks, wanted fox but cant affored so opted for 150mm Dual Air Revelations 20mm axle
