Hi Guys, I've not been on here for months as I've just moved from Hornchurch to Chafford Hundred and every weekend since February has somehow involved house things.

I'm now ready to get back on the bike and wondered if there was any riding within a few miles of where I am now?
Looking forward to getting out for a wobble once the weather improves!

Cheers,

Jon

I use to live in Grays, to be honest there isn't much off roading to be done there other than along the Mardyke river (starting at Davy Downs and along to Bulphan) or country lane riding heading to East Tilbury Village. Best off head to Laindon or Thorndon.

I string together a ride from my home in E tilbury when I fancy a quick blast , but technical offroad it ain't! I second mattvanders opinion about thorndon and langdon hills for the nearest good riding.

There is a little loop from Belhus park thru to Sealy country park across to Berwick woods( a few technical bits there) thru to Hornchuch country park into Ingrebourne hills over to Chaseside at Rainham along the Thames upto Purfleet thru aveley back into Belhus its nothing technical just a leg stretcher around about 17 miles .

As above thats a nice leg stretcher and often do it there and back making it around 26 miles using the RSPB site on the Thames as the turning point.

other than that we ride Thorndon in Brentwood most weekends and its a pretty decent XC ride plus theres plenty of jumping areas and some downhill sections.

keep an eye on the ride section and come along you will be made welcome...

Yep... As mentioned, im a Thorndon/s & Langdon hills lover. There are a few little trails around our way, but nothing to get your teeth in to.

Thanks for the advice.
Matt and Festa, we've actually met! I joined for for a muddy ride at Thorndon just before Xmas, drove there in a red Alfa Romeo.
I've been quiet as I've been so tied up with the move but did manage three XC races before March.

Hoping to do lots more riding this summer but my girlfriend and I share a car so I have to be considerate with my use of it. I really hoped that there was some riding close by. Belhus loop sounds interesting but I will also take a wobble out to Thorndon again very soon.
I'm racing Gorrick on May 6th and hope to race at least once per month for the rest of the year.
