Maintenance knowledge is good to, and have my own little workshop just starting up.... And teaching comes easy being an ex semi-pro rider, albeit DH rider, skills all crossover though ;)

I think it's a great idea as riding with a bunch of people you don't know could be intimidating particarly if you're new to the sport and feel that you won't be able to ride as well as them or keep up and think you're going to spoil it for everyone. Riding with better riders does help you to progress but it's that initial first ride or few rides that will put people off so it's brilliant that this has come about. This also goes for ladies wanting to ride and not wanting to ride with a bunch of blokes when they first start. It's also good as mentioned for building fitness if you've gone to pot a bit like me with 2 nippers and not much opportunity to get out and ride as much as you used to lol.
As for maintenance also a great idea in these hard times to save a bit of money on the basics, although not so good for the LBS's lol.
If I can I think I'll try and make a ride at Thorndon and get back some fitness and also offer skills and maintenance advice.

Think you hit the nail on the head there Greg, especially in my case
i know i will be slow, i need to build up my fitness and confidence a hell of a lot
also i am quite shy until i get to know people, then you cant shut me up (ok not that bad but you get my point)
i have been told i come across as arrogant, but its just that i dont say much unless i have something to say, i am looking forward to meeting up with you guys to try and help break the cycle (no pun intended) and drag me out of my shell, i need a past time/hobby away from fixing my car and work/doing the school run and shopping
i need more in my life then just the usual crap, and this is the ideal way, gets me out and keeps me fit, and i need to lose the weight lol
sorry for such a rambling post

Cool, I'm 99% I'm for this, just have a slight work issue but I'm sure it will sort itself out long before then

Really appreciate this Nick
