Hey guys managed to get my rear deraileur through my back wheel the other day whilst jump practice also taking a few spokes with it.( thats why i didn't go to danbury on sunday)
it was a shimano sl now in lots of bits!!!!
been looking at other ones on chain reactions shimano slx shadow m663 and sram x9 but don't know if i need long or medium cage???is that the figure of eight bit at the back?? and what one do i want on kona coiler?? or does it not matter they all do the same job ish??
would really appreciate some advice.....

Get a short cage. You want as short as possible if your jumping really. And on DH for that matter!
Anyone will fit dude!

Shorter the better - if ur running a dual or triple up front, a med cage may be the best fit - one ring up front then you can go for a short if they are available.

Well replaced the spokes last week and finally my derailleur (sram x9,short cage) turned up today got it on all looking sweet but didn't have gear 8 or 9???
but turns out i also managed to bend the hanger which now has been lovingly put straight on the garage floor with a hammer!!! hahaha

One thing I noticed that no one has mentioned.
You were running a Shimano mech before?? SCRAM mechs will not work with Shimano shifters!!!
The cable pull is completly differant!!!

Yea now you tell me hahaha i managed to get it working but have lost gear 9 which i can sort with a washer and i'm getting clean shifts so maybe i was just lucky???
took me 2 hrs to set it up though.....

Only just saw this post.

Shimo and sram are completely uncompatible, except for the front mech. Im suprised you've got it to work that well!!!

Even some scram and Shimo bits wont work with them selfs, Like XX and XTR, will only work with them selfs.

Bodgetastic - yea don't they pull cable at different rates? Well done on getting that to work at all
