Why is everyone going so slow?

It was really dry across the fields but pretty slipper on some of the corners under the trees. This meant you couldn't fly round the corners and was tricky for tyre choice. You should do some of these next time Ev, you can take it as seriously as you like.

I have contemplated doing a couple.. Would like to see how well I can do.

Yeah, £15 a pop. I only did 2 so won't get any overall points, think you have to do at least 3 rounds for that. I came 25th in the muddy Codham one, not so well in the last one due to breaking my bike but that was with no training and only riding to a from work every day.

Looking at money and only could do one I head to Codham Park best one in my eyes, It has it all. Plus its on private land so can only ride then.

Tho I not done Thetford Forest.

It is an outlay for small results and only about 12 miles of riding, some of the races are good and the atmosphere is friendly (apart from the Lycra roadies who are always way too serious).

Would have liked to do more this year but other things came up or commitments.


But last race I did was Codham and with the broken bits and race fee + fuel there and back it's going to cost me about £120 all part of the hobby and sport I love

I feel a good local ride session is sometime better rewarding for me and enjoyable more...

I feel it takes your riding to the next level, this was my 4th year i think or 5th? cant remember.
I dramatically improved after the first season, then the second year i learnt about tyres, 3rd year about heart rate, 4th year about racing! LOL this year with everything else going on i couldnt commit but if you fancy doing some "proper racing come winter time, do the brass monkey races with me and beardie.
even if you only do the one, it will open your eyes!

I might do some of them. With a bit of training (a sorting out my new machine) I could do a lot better. I know MSG doesn't compare to the Brass Monkey races!

Dude your 456 will be ideal for those races. I can't wait to do them again!

The 12/12 is a good event and a great course, End of august and you could do it as a team? doing a few laps each.

The Autumn classic 1 at Tunnel Hill is meant to be one of the best courses around, rd 2 @ crowthorne is swinley and is a decent course though its my least fave gorrick course. Im a definate for autumn classic 1, 14th oct if anyones keen?

Was a strange year for the brass monkeys as winter was so dry, the courses were running better than the spring series. Spring series is good and theres lots of categories so you start in smaller groups and shorter races based on laps rather than time in the brass monkeys.

All gorricks are HT friendly, they make the climbs easier, though there tends to be a fair number of clown bikes at them now. No racing licence required either and normally have a great atmosphere.

Beastways good fun, a lot harder than they sound even though only an hour race.
