Cockernee Paul and I are heading to the Forest of Dean for a spot of uplift assisted DH on Saturday (22nd Jan) - and noticed that there's a mini-DH race on the Sunday - so thought I'd let the race heads out there know ....it's about 3 hours drive from Loughton and has a lot of short but really fun DH style tracks (+ some decent singletrack trail riding if that's your preference).

Anyone else planning to be FoD way at the weekend?

Have fun, have you rode FOD before?

Bit of a last minute thing now cockernee paul's big bike is fully functional again.

We did the uplift there in October and even though it pissed down fall day it was a really fun venue - definitely up for more trips down there later in the year (I'm aiming for at least an uplift trip each month this year) - could easily chuck Cwmcarn in and make a weekend of it.

How long are the DH Runs on average? About Aston Hill length? i.e. 1m40s?

Yes - pretty similar to Aston Hill in terms of time once you know the tracks

It felt a lot like Aston when we were there in October but has a bit more variety in the style and feel of the tracks and the rain / wet seemed less of a problem. If you like riding at Aston hill, you'd love it at FoD

So Aston Hill without the push back up the hill...

Awesome!

I'll be hitting that up in the next few months then!

I think i am doing the uplift up at FOD on the 29th to meet a few mates for my B DAY, as its reasonably close to descent gear and i can buy my neckbrace.
let us know how the conditions are up there

There's some good FOD video coverage over at pinkbike to give you an idea of what it's like - although as always the camera makes everything look less steep than it feels when you're there and riding - amazing how that happens!

It took us two & a half hours last time - we went M25, M4 and M49(?) over the old Severn toad bridge to chepstow and then various A ad B roads.

May try a different route on Saturday via Cirencester as suggested by googlemaps
