Even though I come from a tropical country I can handle quite well the cold temperatures, wet weather and the mud. What really put me off of riding is when the trail conditions are so poor that you can't really ride, you just move and riding on my own. I hate these two things. If the conditions I go to the road.

So what do you guys wear in winter when your riding? do u go with thermals and shorts or just long trousers? im going out this weekend with the kids and will be putting them in jogging bottoms and hoodies etc, but myself i cant stand wearing things such as joggers because they always get caught up in the chain ring.

I wear baggy shorts (3/4 length) for as long as I can bear it, warm waterproof jacket, waterproof socks. If it gets really cold I have a pair of cycling tights with a bib top and I wear them under the baggies. To be honest, though, most of the time the only real difference between my winter and summer gear is if I wear a jacket or not and whether my gloves have fingers or not. A couple of years ago me and a mate were sitting outside the Kings Oak at Epping after a ride, having a cup of tea, there was snow on the ground and we were both wearing shorts!

I ride a motorcycle as well so I guess I'm used to being cold!

In the winter I wear shorts with long socks for the most part
If its xc I often wear some padded trousers
On top if its cold I have a wind proof jacket with base layer and a jersey
For dh stuff the body armour always keeps me too warm!

Fair play i think ill go with thermals with shorts on top then and have to look into a windproof jacket...

Waterproof and windproof gear and base layers.

M&s long sleeve thermal underwear and if its snowing long johns

get some bike specific under trousers they are wicked

These are ok they are blue ..i wear 3/4 length shorts long socks and knee and shin pads so no bugger see's them!

i use them as base when skiing

I mean that the bike specific ones have a flat padded gusset with no seams which makes them much more comfortable and no rubbing.

I wear them over my padded shorts!
but your right sports direct very good prices and have just started to do more mtb looking apparrel now i was in a big one the other day and saw some long sleeve tops!
