Hi

I'm Paul and i'm new to the site.
I live in Chafford Hundred and there's not that many places to ride without going on the road or a cycle path around the gorge.
Can anyone local recommend anywhere offroad? I have car & bike rack so can venture out a bit.

Not looking for anything too hardcore - just getting bored of concrete/tarmac!

Have a look at the ride calendar, in Thurrock I am not sure that there is anything but Thorndon Park in Brentwood is not too far and there are regular rides organised there, weekend and mid-week.

There is a ride that can leave from the Davey Down that is about 18 miles.

There's no massive challenge, it's more XC and a nice ride...

Festa, Cempa and I do it regularly... Strangely never together!

Try one tree hill. Some good long xc with some downhill. They recently had a stage there for British cycling mtb series so made some routes up. But you can go for a good few miles around into connecting areas. Park at the bottom of one tree hill. Also some good rooted technical track.

Also Brentwood thorndon would entertain. Start around the ski slope area.

From chafford you can link straight up to the belhus loop..nice little leg stretcher with a scenic ride back along the thames...so you dont have to even drive anywhere...as Stumpie said its around 18 miles nothing to hard.....next time we go i will post up on the ride calender, so you know where to go.....

Hi mate went out for a ride friday from harold wood to grays through hornchurch country park & rainham marshes to the RSBP!then along the thames estuary under the dartford bridge along the sea wall to grays!manliy riding on concrete,just use it for training & nice ride out!around 35 miles all in

Being an ex thurrock rider i use to ride from stifford village along the mar myke up to bulphan, then across the A128 and up old church road to the top of Laindon hills, do a loop of one tree hill and back along the old A13. A mixure of xc and on road i'm afraid but getting to the top of Laindon was a challegen.
