Hi everyone,

I've been looking into getting a second bike which can handle better at places like Danbury, bike parks etc than my current AM rig.

So far I've been looking for the following as sec hands bikes: Cube hanzz (race), Scott Voltage, SantaCruz Bullit, Trans 250 and blindside, (Nukeproof scalp),(giant glory).

There is also currently scott gambler on ebay which seems a good deal to me :

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DOWNHILL-FREE ... 2ec2ff2b39

Will be good to get some advice and personal opinions as i know some of you already ride some of the above.

The budget for sec hand would be about £1200 max.

Peter

Not second hand but chain reaction have a kona bass for a grand, 1/3 off. Park bike, perfect for danbury or similar, and a couple of hundred left if you want to get gears. Your choices are great bikes but too much bike for the likes of danbury IMO. If you want to go to Aston or similar they look good.

I think I narrowed down the bikes down to Transition TR250, Cube Hanzz Race and Nukeproof Scalp as an option for full on DH.

Hopefully something will come up within budget in the next few weeks

Purely on looks alone i'd buy the TR250. Love these bikes, the Scalp is a nice bike, very common in the hills.

Whats your budget? I will have my Devinci Wilson up for sale very soon

Can you not build your AM bike into a more DH biased machine ? what is it you are looking for exactly from a bike ?

It doesn't matter what you ride

Agree with the above. You don't really need a full on dh bike in this country, there's only a handful of tracks which having a dh bike is benficial (Cwmcarn, Aston hill, Fort William etc). But even these could all be ridden on a decent am bike at a push.

I'll put it this way, was at revolution bike park on sunday, two lads were on Nukeproof mega's. They were quicker than anyone else there, with two of the shortest travel bikes.

If your buying a bike for danbury, which is essentially a jumps, you definetly don't want a dh bike, what you need is a 150mm park bike at most.

these could work:

I would like to keep my AM bike as is for XC and going to work occasionally when I work near home
This is why I want a second bike with more freeride geometry and spec I can take to to places like danbury or alps trips and don't worry too much about breaking it:

There is a cube hanzz pro never ridden on ebay which I'm thinking about but it's the lower spec model

I'd look for something a little more aggressive if you're going to go more exciting than danbury, especially at that sort of price ? the geometry of the Cube isnt a million miles away from what you're riding now ?
