Hey Bens,

No worries at all, I read the post in my phone.

I went riding from home and got all wet and cold so came back very early.

Let's ride next weekend!

Jose - definitely up for next weekend - hopefully the weather will be less minging

Dallas - I live in Camden, so to get to Epping, I take the overland from Camden Rail station to Hackney Central, ride round to Hackney Downs, then take the train up to Chnigford

Ben just to let you know, alternatively you can go all the way to Stratford, get the Central line (you can take your bike in) to Loughton and cycle about 3 miles to High Beech.

@Bens, @decoxx

I was going to suggest something along the same lines, I live in Old St and take the train from Liverpool St. you can take bikes on trains at weekends and outside rush hour.

I think they relaxed the rules on bikes on tubes, though it can still be hit and miss.

Next time I head over to Epping or Thordon I'll keep you post and perhaps arrange to go together, I also have a car so can always drive too.

@Bens

You mentioned taking the overground, right? Stratford is its final stop.

@Bens,

I heard a rule once which was they don't allow bikes on tubes where the tube station or train will enter a deep tunnel. So basically nothing inside zone 1&2 pretty much....so yeah, Camden Town would of been a no go.

The overground let you take bikes when it's off peak; the problem was that they only open at 9.15 on a Sunday (at least in Camden); the rest of the week, it's 6.30.

For info - There's some stupid old by-law that means you can't take a non folding bicycle on any part of the underground that is actually under the ground. So, the obvious choice would be London Liverpool Street overground to Stratford, then Central line to Epping (which is all overground). Failing that you could go from Liverpool St to Waltham Cross and ride to Epping from there - it's about 5 miles from there to the Kings Oak pub. Basically it's straight past the Olympic White Water Centre, through the Abbey then under the M11.

I was speaking to a few guys this evening @ Weald Country Park, Brentwood; and they said there's always a big meet up at the weekend at a 'Metal container' between an intersection @ Fairmead Road and Cross Roads, Waltham Abbey, and they also said something about High Beech Road, Loughton, Epping Forest District.
