I was thinking of getting an AM bike but every time I looked into it my wallet started hurting lol

After going over Danbury last week I defiantly want something more downhill / freeride. I have been looking around and 07/08 Kona stinky seem to be coming quite cheap.

so the plan now is to keep my hard tail for thorndon and alike and get a stinky for bike parks, trail centers and Danbury.

two questions firstly what do you think of stinkys and secondly would it be up to the job ?

Stinky's are more than up to the job you see plenty of them down danbury

they are a little weighty but this translates to a sturdy bike which is good if you are not a seasoned free rider

I own a coiler deluxe 07 which is pretty much identical to a stinky bar a few ISCG mounts and rear shock I think.

Everytime anyone lifts my bike onto a car rack its groan groan your bike is so heavy! But tbh i havnt ridden anyone elses bike for a long time and your going downhill, so it doesnt matter, what I can vouch for is these kona frames are built like tanks! Id deffo reccomend a stinky or coiler deluxe around 07/08, theres alot about so spare parts wont be an issue and they are as andy said a tank!

Sorry Harkin, I dont want to hijack your post, I just want to hear one or two opinions of people that knows a bit more than me.

It happened the same to me, thanks to Luvinit who showed me Danbury, I decided that was time to move on from my hardtail, and get a full sus. I was not looking for a DH bike because I wanted something more all around, so I ended getting a good deal on a Trek Remedy.

Was it a good choice to ride bike parks, rougher trails and moderate DH?

Yes it was a decent choice
unless you are smashing down rooty rooty trails all the time dh bikes are overkill

myself on a pitch and ant on his coiler both had no worries hitting triscombe at a decent pace and that is steep rooty and technical

Thanks for the feed nwmlarge. I took in consideration the amount of travel front and rear, plus the components quality. Also i won't be doing anything too crazy with it... So I'll be all right... Wanted to hear a second opinion just to confirm my thoughts... cheers pal

I have seen an 04 stinky for £325 but it has a dent in the frame at the bottom near the shock should it take a chance on it ?

Im looking atm but defo avoiding dented ...dont have a theory to why,! just helps to narrow it down!

Yea sounds a bit iffy dents leed to bends, bends leed to cracks, cracks leed to the dark side (sorry couldn't resist the yoda impression lol)
