Right guys & girls,

Sunday, weather permitting, I'll be doing the Thurrock loop.

Set off from Bannatyne's at 19:30, through Ockendon, Belhus, Hornchurch, Rainham, Purfleet and down into Thurrock/Grays.

Is roughly 20 miles - mostly flat - mostly firm trails - a little bit of road as well...

It's a good leg stretcher that should burn a mince pie or two off and will prepare you perfectly for New Years Eve...

Lights are needed... The brighter the better..!

I might venture out for this. i may ride up from stanford to the start, but on the way home can i get through from grays to the tilbury ferry area? so i can ride the sea wall to mucking and onto stanford.

I've only been able to go along the river wall as far as Grays :(

Hi stumpie, i tried the thurrock loop today, very muddy and boggy in parts in Belhus Woods. Took the wrong turning and ended up going to Aveley so had to cut through Wennington/Rainham to get to the marshes/river wall....it was a good ride though (30km). I have a few days in January before i go back to work so i'll be up for an evening or day ride.

Just looked at the map, it looks a bit of a road trek to get from grays to the ferry terminal at tilbury to pick up the sea wall back to mucking. There may be a cut through the dock area? but looks like it will need a rekkie.

Alright.. The grain terminal is in the way and the docks are sewn up fairly tight to laughingly keep the immigrants in. I wouldn't think you could get onto the sea path until either coal house fort or worlds end pub but wouldn't fancy it on my own at 10 o'clock at night unless u is feeling double ard. :D there's always chadwell, orsett cock, Stanford..
