Brentwood Train station to 'Pole's and Bushy Woods', Kelvedon Hatch, Brentwood, opposite the "Kelvedon Hatch Secret Nuclear Bunker".

I been thinking about doing this ride for months, and now I'm just out of patience to wait any longer to do it. It would make a brilliant 'summer ride', but that's too long to wait.

My proposal is that on one day next weekend (12/13 January) to follow the below route 'up', and the other route below that, on the way back.

About a 20mile day ride.

I think all the hills are made out of the mud and other stuff from the building of the "Kelvedon Hatch Secret Nuclear Bunker" in the early 1950s.

Not been here for 10/11 years, last time I was 15/16 years old, and we went out in the rain after school. A few weeks before that we went down there in the snow, ALL FUN.

There are 2 streams which you can also ride in, but I reckon it would probably at the moment be way to deep to do that this time round.

There's not much rain foretasted for next week, only the odd bit of light rain, plus the forecast for 12/13 is dry, with temperatures around -1 to 3c, so ground should be moderately dry and hard.

Poles Wood is great fun - the owner has it setup for motorbikes (trail bikes).

They pay for the privilege of having somewhere to ride so I would (a) take care for motorbikes... and (b) keep an eye out for a blue Range Rover as the owner doesn't always welcome riders...

That being said what's the worst that can happen..!

Well I not been for a long time, I used to live in Kelvedon Green when I was a kid. I reckon we spend a decent bit of time down there, I not been there for a long time, plus some may not have been there at all, also the ride up and back should be good, lots of footpaths and bridleways.

I think it's a new(ish) Range Rover... and it's James Parrish

He's a good guy and arranges a few events on the land a year (http://www.adventureraceessex.co.uk/) but Poles wood is primarily for trial bikes....

Anybody else for Sunday? be good if we can get a group for this one.

Ground should be hard on Sunday, might get a bit of snow too, that would be cool.
