 Post subject: Bearing press/removal

Going to break the golden rule here :(

Does anyone have a frame bearing removal tool i can borrow to pop the bearings out my new frame so i can get it powdered ? can bring the frame to you at a convenient time, or pick up and drop off or whatever suits ?

If i'm going to do this, may as well do it right, not sure i have anything of a suitable size to use as a receiver to make my own tool up

Doubt it, depends on how quick i can get it to paint i guess ? tempted to say sod it and just build it up, but....

I would, build it ride it, fall off it, get an idea of what you want to chop about on it then paint it

Peer pressure..... but i have no ideas at all about setting up the rear shock on it, its a DHX5 or some thing and not sure if it will hold my fat arse up, at UKBS i'd rather ride something thats good to go and not 'in development' LOL

what do you weigh all kitted up and what weight spring is currently in there?

No idea and no idea ? never had to bother with it all !

actually i think the coil has 400 written on it, i weigh 12.8 in normal clobber :o/

A 400 is about 100 too low

get dressed up tonight and jump on the scales it will give you an indication of what you need when you are on the bike. i weigh 13.5 naked and i run a 550lb spring

you can buy a new spring or call local shops and see if anyone has a second hand one knocking about. i paid £15 for the last couple i picked up

Ive got a 500lb which is about right, tiny bit soft but feels good, you can get em pretty cheap, lots about 2nd hand or save up a bit more, as I did and get a Ti one, that saves a lot of weight.

DHX can be a bit complex, kinda glad Ive got a Fox Van now which hasnt got much to adjust.

Ok cool so I'll look for a 500 or the next one up possibly, the dhx appears to be very similar to car suspension so should be ok
