Seeing as i won a competition to stay here:
http://www.coedybrenincottages.com/ i guess its only fair to tell you a little about the place, I won 2 nights in the 'hay loft' marketed as a romantic weekend for Two..... yeah right, first thing first ring my mate and see if he's up for some Welsh MTB fun so off we went with an airbed for the lounge as there was to be no bum fun here.... As luck would have it for Marco the 'hay loft' actually has a sofa bed, the accommodation is presented very well, its very well furnished and very comfortable and its 400yds from the entrance to Coed-Y brenin mountain bike park, you really cant go wrong although it carries a pretty steep price tag ?
All amenities are top notch and there is also secure bike storage, perfect, although the place is only 400yds from the entrance to the bike park, take the car as when you come home its 400yds up a pretty steep hill and you'll be shattered from riding all day
the riding is first class and when the 'skills area' is finished it will be an amazing place for all types of riding, we coped very well on hardtails managing 1 and a half*black runs climbing nearly 3000ft. The trails are man made, not that you'd know it, and you need to be confident in rock gardens, less like a garden more like a rocky mountain stream without the water in it ! Plenty of drops and line choice is crucial, something i'm rather naff at it appears !
The Red runs have some cool flowy bits and if you pump them right there is some decent air to be had also, but there is a distinct lack of big jumps. Got a few random pics, nothing too special.
The good thing about driving is not having to open and shut the damn gates..
going up...
complimentary bike shot way up on the 'bull' trail
when i get more photo's off Marco i'll add them
*I only managed half of the MBR trail as i went over the bars on a section called Cain and smashed my ribs good and proper on the rocks, this was due to the fatigue induced by riding the bull trail in the morning, damn its hard work but so so rewarding.
