Hello all

I've just moved to Walthamstow, very near to the forest (about 2 minutes from Walthamstow Forest, in fact), from a more urban area. I have traded my fixie road bike in for a far more appropriate Cube Acid and have been getting back into trail riding - something I'd missed since my youth in the Cotswolds. I live with my brother, a keen mountain-biker, and my fiance, who I'm gently introducing to the sport.

I'm eager to learn the best trails, and am particularly keen on doing some night riding. Hope to meet some of you soon and be introduced to some fun runs.

Targ

Welcome targ.. the forest has been pretty wet for a while now... but should get better over the next month.. Expect to see a few more Epping rides posted then.

You will find them in the forum or linked from here

Hi Targ... hello and I can confirm that Walthamstow Forest is a bit muddy right now

Thanks for the replies. Agreed, it was definitely feeling the week of downpours when we rode the southern parts of the forest at the weekend. The garden hose has, at least, been getting plenty of use in the evenings... I did have some exceptional and relatively clean rides a few weeks ago, however, following that unexpected and all-too-brief dry spell.

I am so in love with the area now, though - what a gem in London!

Hi mate welcome, I live pretty close of you by the Whipps Cross Hospital and as you I fell in love by the area. The proximity of the forest made be get a mtb and get on the trails, now I can't imagine my life without it! It's been a long time though that I ride Epping as it's flooded most part of the year.
