Hey guys,

Been watching the forum for a while and asked for some advice the other day about Warley / Thorndon...

Anyway, used to ride many moons ago, stopped when i discovered girls and pubs and then started again about 5 years ago. I was just getting back into full swing when i discovered marriage, house ownership and fatherhood so I have only been out mountain biking a few times in the last couple of years. Now that it's a bit lighter in the evenings and things are speeding up i'm keen to get back on it!

I commute on a boris bike but only a few miles a day so my fitness levels are pretty low, I'll try to keep up though if i meet you guys at all!

I'm going to go for an explore over Warley for the first time tonight, make sure my bike is still rideable and see what i can find! I got a route from VW-surfbum so that will give me a few ideas of where to start looking for trails!

Looks like i'll be able to get a pass Saturday AM as well, hopefully i'll get over there again then!

Hopefully i'll be seeing some of you out there! :D

cheers,
MikeStan.

Hi Andy,

yeah i found enough to keep me occupied until it got dark. the downhill / freeride bits are pretty crazy, the gaps are well above my comfort zone right now but maybe one-day...

spent a while exploring and using a lot of the chicken runs before heading over the road where i found a lot of more tame stuff. There was a couple of nice bowls with some kickers so i could practice getting airborne again without worrying about gaps.

looking forward to getting over there when some more of you guys are doing more of a loop...

cheers....

Yeah actually, i was impressed with all the berms you can really keep the speed up! I kept bottling going up the wall any distance though, i need a few more hours on my mountain bike to get confidence up again. Have just been riding boris bikes and my paddywagon recently so am still finding limits of grip and chuckability!
