£6.8 million. Thats more than 5 times the cost of Bike Park Wales (1.5 million), and will take 5 times as long to open to the public, for what is essentially 1 cyclocross track!

What a joke!

All you need is a hill, some trees, somewhere to park, a bike shop/hire and a burger van

Dont get me wrong, I'm all for the development of the area and getting more people involved in cycling. But 7 mil is a bit steep!!

Sounds like it's going to be sanatised as well - hope they keep the features and just add easy routes for beginners. Would be nice to have a local facility that experienced riders are challenged on too.

Its such a joke, I know its not ever going to be up to the same standard as a welsh trail centre (distance and technical features) but it could be made easily be one of the best places in the southeast for xc/trail riding. I road lee quarry last year, its a more of a skills ride than an xc ride but very good fun. If they made it into similar it would be brilliant.

who said you need trees to ride around and have fun

Technically we're not a 'club' and I think the intention was to never be one due to things like politics and money. The reasons the chap gave for the long delay were pretty poor. As we were saying last year, the time scale and cost just doesn't stack up again other trail projects around the UK, someone is making a tidy profit from this!

It may be that part of that 6.8m is for the land. Its currently private, Access is shocking at the best of times. You go any where near the salvation army place on a nice day and its carnage. Cars parked all over the shop, barely enough room to get past. Need to sort all that before they open it up properly.

I have a feeling the land will still be owned by the sally Army, which mayalso mean no booze is allowed on it..
