Hey guys,

I'm getting back on the bike after a 3yr absence. I used to roll around on a Specialized SX Trail until it was nicked a few years ago. I use to ride in Wales a fair bit as well as Aston hill and Swinley. Work and other commitments have kept me off the bike since then. Anyway I have had enough of not riding, and becoming a fat bastard hasn't helped things either. So I just picked a decent 2012 Trek Slash off of the bay.

Most of the guys I use to ride with have moved on, so I'm hoping to join up on a few of your rides. I suppose the type of riding I like falls into the DH/ Enduro territory. But all in all as long as there is decent single track involved I'm game.

I'm based in enfield so I'll be checking out the enfield trails soon.

I may head down to Swinley on Sunday for a trundle about if anyone is game. I recall there being some decent trails there that I shouldn't kill myself on. My fitness is non existent so it would be a chilled affair. Hopefully I can remember how to ride a bike... :?

Cheers
Thomo

Hi Thomo

Absence from bikes never lasts long! I'm just coming back from a 6 month absence through injury after a crash!

I will give you a shout when I'm out for some rides as sounds like we ride the same stuff. I'm off to Chicksands this Saturday morning for a very early one to test my shoulder and new bike. I will be there from 8-11ish. I make regular trips there so will give you a shout. If you haven't been there you definitely should. Great dual slalom run, an excellent little 4x course and several DH runs etc etc. Good atmosphere too.

Matt

Hey Matt,

Definitely let me know about rides. I'm working sat so it's a no goer. I have been to chick sands a few times, but that was about 4yrs ago. I'm just stoked to have a bike again!

Look forward to meeting up for a ride.

Swinley has changed a fair bit in 3yrs.... you wil have fun but its a little more organised than it ever was, there are only really 2 trails there now incorporating all the old 'best bits' and there are some reasonable long slogs up hills now, but on the plus side you get to come back down again which is very rewarding on well manicured surfaced trails... :)

Enjoy, and let us know how you get on !

It doesn't matter what you ride

Well, f@ck me swinley got organised!

First ride out was really good. Did the blue trail. Lungs burnt. Heart pounded. Legs burnt more. My fitness is truly atrocious. But I had a blast. Surprisingly I felt comfortable on the bike. I think a few more mellow rides and I'll be ready to start playing again. Now just to get the fitness up.
