It was a silly post of mine really.
I just thought it kind of funny that Simon was saying how nice a quiet a route is an then publishing the fact. Would be highly hypocritical of me to keep things secretive, as I joined this forum partially to find new routes and trails to explore.
IMO the more the better and I would like to see more young cyclist out instead of on xbox (another post maybe). The only thing is, I kind of feel that we're not welcomed anywhere. On the roads, many drivers would prefer us not to be there. Off road, walkers (esp. those with dogs) would prefer us not to be there. Footpaths - (often singletrack) are just forbidden full stop. Bridleways and fire-roads are good and have never had an issue. Horse riders appear more accommodating, but if a route becomes popular then I'm not so sure. Then there's the purpose made tracks, these are OK, but I prefer more natural surroundings. (... I'm a skinflint too
)
