Hi everyone

Just moved to Basildon recently and looking to take on new activities. New to mountain biking (not cycling) and keen to learn about it and try it. Am absolutely starting off from scratch regarding MTB - no equipment aquired yet. Would like to witness this first hand before Iaunching into buying anything expensive. Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers

David

Plenty of mountain bike mags that will talk your through all the various types from bog standard cheapo Halfords models suitable for popping to shops to full Downhill bikes costing many thousands.

As a newbie you are likely to perhaps ride some local woods, Laindon, etc and get the hang of things and maybe progress as many of us here have done and end up deciding which style of rising you prefer, which type of bike and end up spending more and more.

Its prob best to perhaps buy a 2nd hand bike from a reasonable brand, plenty on Ebay, PinkBike, and various Facebook groups.
