FB shots of the course are looking good, and it's not the same as they used in the nationals... Looks like a new downhill section is their as well, cut in somewhere?? So hopefully all this rain will settle it down then baked dry thur/sat ready for Sunday....

Look for a white panel van and a grey roofbox on top. Riding a silver Lynskey Ridgeline 29. I'm the one with the long hair and beard. My race starts at 2pm

Well what a fun day this was.. Course this year was really good lots of new sections in it, a monster climb that only a few managed and a dead mans drop down... And boy was it hot for the morning race so god knows what the afternoon lot felt like...

Codham always puts on a good race and this one was good... Whizzing past a few riders on the down hill section was fun and the tight right hander at the bottom was fun... Not much bumpy grass put a load of great single track in the woods..

Me too!!

That was a nice course!
After first half of the practice lap I thought it was a bit tame but once I got to the steep bombholes and sharp climbs I changed my mind.
It was super hot but felt good throughout the race, especially strong at the end of my last lap. Organizer decided to finish the race one lap earlier than announced (7) for security reasons as the ambulance had to leave place, someone crashed badly apparently...
Finished 31 of 55 in vets, not happy. I took a last minute decision to change rear tyre for another much lighter, but forgot it had a big puncture and took me horrors to get the beads in and the sealant didn't seal the puncture properly. During second lap I had to pump both wheels for 5 minutes. Rear one was leaking air all the time and front one...ok, I left with too low pressure. Lost around 10 places overall. I didn't even feel confident, that steep bombhole was killing me despite I cleared all the course. The handlebars are a bit far from my chest and I struggle on steep descents. Climbing felt good, very sharp and short.

Need to do something with the handling on this bike, 650b still on the way.

Beastway races series soon, bring it on!!

Well done guys. I had the slightest hope that I will make to MSG after yesterday's South Downs but on Thursday evening was decided we all go for a family weekend to Brighton. Should be free for the next one but it will be the Open in case my son comes along to the U12. The pm ride is too late for me.

I have to say, the UKCE non-competitive nature of the rides has started to appeal me more. a) its much longer b) not being anywhere as quick as many others, at MSG races I always feel like I have to give way on those narrow singletracks to those with shaved legs and lycra outfit, otherwise their lives are totally ruined should I hold them up. I have only been to one so far, the 1st event, so I could be wrong.

Really good race and course. The lap was only 3miles and it felt that they should have made the open race at least 4 laps. Managed 49th progress from the last race :) I also had 2 near misses and I was lucky not to stack it badly.

Waiting for Bob's story too :)
