I have been mountain biking for just over a year now (mainly trails and xc, too much of an aversion to pain for downhill!) but have recently moved down to Essex for work (I originally hail from Manchester) and been living in Brentwood for a few months now. I've done a bit of solo riding around Thorndon and Weald but it would be good to meet up with some of you guys for a ride, as Im sure Im missing out on a load of stuff. Much cheaper than carting the bike up to Manc whenever I fancy a bit of banter when I'm out on a ride.

p.s. my fitness levels are ok but I'm no Lance Armstrong (or whatever the mtb equivalent is!) so please bear that in mind before you respond if you're some borderline pro

I'm doing a newbie ride for some people on wednesday night at thorndon if your interested? 7pm at the kart track?

Gutted!! I'm on call till 9am Friday (work as an Ops manager for the railways) so have to be within about 10 mins of my car till then. Will have a word at work today though and see if I can get it covered for a few hrs. If so I'll see you there
