I've noticed that my 160mm Lyrik (u-Turn) coil have started sagging a lot more than i ever remember, maybe i've eaten too many pies ? but the reality is I've lost weight since i first got them , Nick (pedalworx) gave them a bit of a service a long time ago and fitted a new mission (could have been motion ? its the posh one LOL) control valve and fresh oil but here's whats happening, the reason for this post is because someone has just posted an X-firm spring for sale which i might need and don't want to miss it??

The bike sits up at 160mm when i'm not on it, when i get on initially it drops (not 100% on how much it drops) then as i go on longer rides i can notice that they have dropped right down to 140 at least and the bike feels low slung and odd so i'm wondering if i'm just too heavy for whatever spring is in them ? but wouldn't it drop down and stay down right away ?

If i pop a wheelie or jump of anything i can feel the forks extend with a slight clunk so the rebound must be pretty quick (or the front wheel heavy) so i doubt they are creeping down because its too slow and i tend to wheelie and jump a lot

to make things worse, the bike handles great, jumps beautifully and soaks up any unpleasant heavy hits but the suspension does feel a little soft in those conditions, but it never bottoms out, perhaps the 20mm of sag is correct but why doesn't it do it from the get go, i'm not sold on this excuse though ??

any thoughts :?:

They could just need another service. Might be best to get Nick to take another look. Lower leg service is recommended every 50 hours of riding with fresh oil, o ring and seal check and replacements as necessary. It could just be stricition between the stanchion and the dust seals/oil seals that causes the sag to be a bit slow. If you pump to forks before getting on the bike where do they settle once you're on the bike? Do you ever pop you bike upside down once in a while? This is a good thing to do as the oil will the relube the upper parts of the fork legs. Basically, if you haven't changed anything then the forks will need a strip down to check all is ok.

Surely this is related to the preload you have dialled in ?

why not start from the beginning and see how it goes.

20% wouldn't be unwarrented as sag though you don't want to ride on the top of the travel

Could be ! just been looking into the replacement spring and that Black one (x-firm) is for people >200lbs i'm 168 so it would be rock hard ! would solve the sag though LOL so had to pass it up.

perhaps a general service first, then a new Red spring after that.

Might be worth factoring in your dressed weight with a lid rucksack etc

Done that, the issue arises as i get lighter by drinking the contents of my camel back ! After we left you last night it was a sloppy as could be, it may be that after some enthusiastic riding it happens, so it could be the oil ?
