I will leave it on the day as I am 50/50 at the moment. Missus could be in London on Sunday but she wont know until Friday for certain. I hope I can make it because the following Sunday she is running 10k in Hylands for some charity so that's 2 Sundays without morning ride :x

If I come, I will be riding there and back and possibly take my son along too.

Can somebody give me a run down of what goes on, having never done anything like this I have no idea what to expect. I am very interested in it though.

Jamie

The open race starts at 10am and is a mass start normally about 90 riders, top 30 riders go in front first, rest of us battle it out for first bend or obstacle, courses are normally about 3.5 miles long and your do about 3 laps or less if you give up early. They like to add in some technical bits, normally bomb holes, steep inclines, logs etc, most are ok. Let all the Lycra clad speed whippets go of first then pick em off one by as the laps go by, normally ride over or into the roadies that are clipped in and fallen off by obstacles :-)

Seriously though its a great atmosphere and racing experience, don't be daunted by the race name, its more for fun. the serous racers go off at 2pm after we have churned the track up for them before in the morning, I'll be there on Sunday if your going and feel the need to race....

Well what a course... If only every MSG was like this.. Instead of some big house garden!!!

Course was twisty and tight through the trees, bumpy was an understatement it was brutal, more twists and turns and bomb holes with steep entries and exits, some churned up on first run so getting tricky getting up them.. Loads of exit points where my 29'er pedals bottomed out, even had a pit of about a foot deep square edge in and out, interesting, had riders off all over the place, stunt OTB riders in front of me.. A long wide open grass section over field that was horrible and bumpy hard and then diagonal across tracks into woods...

All in its a great place and will investigate more after MSG have been and gone.
