Hi guys,
Bought a new fork but couldn't find that piece that goes at the bottom of the steerer. Then I remove it from the old SID. Will I need it or is it true, it's missing and I'm doing it right?ImageImage

No, it's a Cane creek 110 integrated that I bought also from Lynskey at the same time. So it fits

What's a race?
It's a complete headset. Top comes with 41.8mm bearings at the bottom part with 52mm

Edit: Yes, it comes with a crown race
Edit2: The manual https://www.canecreek.com/resources/pro ... s_-_IS.pdf

In the second picture the thin ring is what you need to put at the bottom of the stack and nothing else, its more of a dust cover than anything. The bearings are sealed units, the unsealed style headsets (of old or cheap sets) need a thick ring for the bearings to run on.

Got it. So that metal ring in right fork on second picture is optional

Thanks for the info. I need to find the right tool to put the race crown at the very bottom of the stereer

I taped my down with a large flat screw driver either side, a bit of grease on the steerer as well.

It's taking long...I've done it now.
Next step is to cut the steerer to the right size. I may need spacers. Saw a few days ago a tutorial for that.

Pipe cutter works well and then just file the edge. Fitting the star washer is far easyer with the correct tool so may have to pop to the shop
