Another dilemma is wheel size.??
Personally I wouldn't get a 29er, I would have to say your better off with a 650b wheel size if you buy new.
Also if you buy new, Look to get last years model as it will always be cheaper.!!
29" will soon be long forgotten ..!!
No matter what mag reviews say,I think your better to speak to real people with real experience.
Magazine reviews always seem like a hard sell to me, like a brand paying the mag to sell you a product..
The product should sell itself without having to be rated in a mag.!!
Have you thought of buying second hand, you will get more bike for your money..!!

I'd say that 29ers have got a lot to recommend them to people just starting out.

First off I think most people agree that they roll and climb better than 26" or 650b and that little bit of help can be a real benefit then you start riding especially when you join a group and are struggling to keep up.

Yes they lose out on a bit of the fun factor when the going gets interesting and the reduced manoeuvrability shows but to me when you're starting out that is balanced by the fact that they tend to bulldoze over things making your choice of line a bit less critical.

I think that Voodoo is hard to beat at the price

Anyway I hear they are bringing out 28.25" wheels next year... all the plus points of 650b and 29er in one package

Any thoughts on these bikes? I quite like the VooDoo Hoodoo but Diamondback Descent 29R looks pretty nice too. The latter seems to be the 29R that you guys were mentioning

The voodoo looks the best value there.

Yeah I'm definitely leaning towards the VooDoo the more I look at it

Plus everytime you ride it you can sing prodigy lyrics in your head.
